The original port (AIX 1.0) to the RT was from SysVR2.  The PS/2 version,
and, I believe, the 370 hosted version, are based on 4.3BSD.  The user
interface draws from both worlds.  My understanding is that by the
time 3.0 is released, all three platforms will be running the same code.

This says that it's not BSD, not that it's not UNIX.  Adapting from AIX
to SunOS should be no harder than adapting from SunOS to the Apollo's
system(s).
