vi macro -- back up by wordends

Comp.editors came up empty. I guess all the experts are
over here...;_}

I'm trying to build a vi macro that will backup by the ENDS of
words. For example, in the previous sentence, it would go: 
	. s f S e y p .........
and so forth. My crude attempts break if there is a single-letter
word or a punct. mark involved. Of course, if you are at the
beginning of a word, it should only go across the space, etc..

Suggestions?
