Asymmetrical Rlogin Failure

Rlogin works one way, but not the other. Why?

Configuration:
    Celerity C1230 running BSD 4.3
80386 Box running Interactive 386/ix with networking package.

/etc/hosts list each other, and /etc/hosts.equiv mention each
other. Rlogin from Celerity works great, but rlogin from 386 reports
"Connection timed out". Telnet, rcp, rsh, and ftp all seem to work
fine in either direction.

Our man page on rlogind(8) mentions the simple protocol/verification
that happens, but the error message doesn't match.

O Networking Gurus, where hast thy servant failed?

                                                        Danny
