WE HAVE A SUN SPARSERVER 390 RUNNING SUNOS UNIX OPERATING SYSTEM.

ALSO WE HAVE A VAX 8530 VMS 4.7 WITH TWO PRINTERS ATTACHED.

BOTH SYSTEMS HAVE TCP/IP SO THE SUN 390 CAN SEND PRINT REQUESTS TO THE

VAX QUEUES USING LPD (TCP/IP REMOTE PRINT PROTOCOL).

WE DEFINED THE SUN IP ADDRESS INTO THE VAX LPD CONFIGURATION FILE SO IT

CAN ACCEPT THE SUN 390 PRINT REQUESTS. ALSO WE CONFIGURED THE /ETC/PRINTCAP

FILE INTO THE SUN 390.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE CAN SEND FILES TO THE VAX QUEUES FROM THE SUN BUT THEY

DOESN'T APPEAR INTO THE VAX QUEUES AND AS A RESULT CAN'T BE PRINTED.

WE CAN SEE THE VAX QUEUES USING THE LPQ COMMAND. THIS IS A PROOF THAT

THE LPD PROTOCOL IS RUNNING IN BOTH SYSTEMS.

AS A MATTER OF FACT WE HAVE A VAX 6310 AND A PC (RUNNING PC TCP/IP)

THAT CAN SEND PRINT REQUESTS TO THE VAX 8530 QUEUES WITHOUT PROBLEMS.

WE CONNECTED A SUN SPARCSTATION AND TRIED TO SEND PRINT REQUEST WITHOUT

SUCCESS. IS THERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE SUN 390 AND SUN SPARCSTATION

LPD CONFIGURATION FILES?

CAN SOMEBODY HELP US? PLEASE SEND ANY SUGGESTIONS TO:
