Help with Xenix + TCP/IP echoing mail

We configured our SCO XENIX/386 to run with
STREAMS TCP/IP  (System V STREAMS TCP - Release 2.0,  LAI System V.3
                 jointly developed by Lachman Associates and Convergent
                 Technologies)

Mail has started to send a copy back to the sender. A
copy of all mail - local, delivered, undelivered,...!
This didn't seem a problem until I found 'root' getting copies
of all calendar messages:
# mail -u root
3 messages:
   1 Super user    Wed 14 Mar  8:01  18/558 "Mail echoes @$#%@$ calendar"
   2 Dr. Botting   Thu 15 Mar 18:33  14/384 "I'm testing mail. ignore."
   3 Super user    Fri 16 Mar  1:20  11/298 "calendar"

I have tried two different 'sendmail.cf' lines:
Mlocal, P=/usr/lib/mail/mail.local, F=UnFDxPlm, S=10, R=20,
	A=mail.local $u
and
Mlocal, P=/usr/lib/mail/mail.local, F=UnFDxPlm, S=10, R=20,
	A=mail.local -r $g $u

Both S10 and R10 are empty.

RTFMing has not lead to any clues.
We have tried all documented 'mail' set commands.

If it is a 'mail' option
or 'sendmail.cf' entry or a 'mail.local' option I haven't
found the documentation for it.

Any clues, information and advice would be deeply appreciated
