uucp over Timeplex

I have a customer with several Unix boxes which they would like to
use to send mail over a Timeplex network. I don't have many details about
how Timeplex works BUT I was led to believe, at one point, that it
     is primarily for interactive use.

We have managed to get uucico to send short files successfully. However,
as file size increases, so does the probability that the transfer will
     fail due to alarm/timeouts.

     The questions therefor are:

     1) Has anyone done something similar over Timeplex?
1a) Has anyone any helpful info about Timeplex?
     2) Has anyone recommendations about what to look for as *the* problem?
     A mild aside:
     3) What have windows got to do with anything in uucp? (i've seen it
mentioned a couple of times and yes I know it doesn't mean X or
	Motif....:-)

Email, please, as this is extremely esoteric. I will summarize if anyone
     asks.....
					Thanksplex,
