telnet/rlogin question

I have a small problem I can't find the answer to in any documentation.
In a tcp/ip network I have two machines. Machine A runs AIX 3.1. Machine
B is running ISC SYSV 3.2.
When I telnet from machine A to machine B, the tty settings for erase
is "^H". When I rlogin from A to B, the tty setting for erase is "#". I can't
find out what controls these settings. I know for serial tty's the info
is in /etc/gettydefs, but it does not seem to hold try for telnet/rlogin.
Any ideas anyone?

Please send email to address below.

Thanks in advance
