Personally I have always called it the "switch user" command, with the default new username being root. man su on Ultrix reports ... < < < < su(1) < < < <NAME < su - substitute a user ID < ... but what do they know :-). Who really cares what it meant when first it was first given a name as long as we know how and what to use it for!
