Hi,

Our University has reached the end of its tether as regards trying to allocate
rooms for examinations venues on a manual basis. The task is just too great.

I have been asked to solicit information regarding automated room allocation
systems.

Available platforms are VAX/VMS, SUN/UNIX, Mac, MS-DOS, Windows, even MVS
(perish the thought!).

The software should be capable of taking two databases and optimising
a match between them.

The first database contains room number (6 digits), and
seating capacity (4 digits)

The second database contains unit number (5 digits), unit name (40 chars),
and # students enrolled (5 digits).

Of course, where the number of students enrolled exceeds the size of the
largest room, the software would need the automatically allocate multiple
rooms to accomodate those students.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who has such a system currently, or whose
organisation is marketing such a beast.
