csh alias problem

Under Ultrucks 3.0/csh, I've got about 40 alias {alia?} that
were in my .cshrc file. But I recently added a couple more.
They don't work. That is, they don't until I 'source .cshrc'
after every login. Then they are fine. These are NOT the last
ones in the alias list - rather they are in the middle.

Here's what I've tried so far:
	Put single or double quotes around command
	move all alia to the '.alias' file. Add 'source .alias'
	command to end of .cshrc
These "fixes" don't change things. I still need a separate, explicit,
source command before these few are recognized.

What am I overlooking?

alias   a	alias
a	al	"alias | more"
{ }
a	c	clear
a	ns	"nslookup"
a	more	"less -c"
{ }

nslookup is one of the problem children. The others work fine......
