sendmail

Anyone have any tips on how to get sendmail to find a host listed in
the /etc/hosts file?  When I send mail to a site in this file,
sendmail invokes uux and it then fails.  TCP and NFS are up and
running fine, I have also used mailmgmt to configure sendmail for both
tcp and uucp.  The entry for the smtp mailer is: 


Mtcpld,	P=[IPC], F=mDFMueXLC, S=17, R=27, A=IPC $h, E=\r\n
