How to compile GCC/binutils/ on ISC2.2

I know this has been posted before, so could someone kindly mail me
the articles relating to the nuances of compiling gcc on ISC2.*?

I got it to compile ok *and* I got binutils to compile as well, the
problem comes in when I try to use them. robotussin will convert
crt0.o but none of the other object files in /lib. When I try to
compile anything with gcc, *it* complains that crt1.o is not in the
proper format. Robotussin won't convert it so I seem to be dead.
Don't know exactly what to do here. Can anyone help?

Thanks
