Exabyte 8mm SCSI tape on DECstation 3100 / Ultirx V3.1

Has anyone had any success in running an Exabyte 8200 8mm SCSI tape drive
from a DECstation 3100 running Ultrix V3.1 ?  If so, are there any tricks
involved ?
