rmail returns exit status 71

Hi!

We just installed a new sendmail.cf file from another department of our
institution on our uucp-gateway host (VAX11/750, Ultrix-3.1), in order
to use the same configuration file throughout the organization and to
switch to domain based addressing.
Since we did so, incoming uucp mail results in an error message:

uucp unido (9/22-15:17-20207) ret (43400) from unido!uucp (MAIL FAIL)
uucp unido (9/22-15:17-20207) cmd: rmail; ret: signal 0, exit 71 (CMD FAILED)

The mail is delivered nevertheless.
Calling rmail by hand, it always returns an exit status of 71.
Can anyone (maybe someone with source code) tell me, what rmail wants to
tell me with exit status 71?
