using xdm from /etc/ttys

 | How are you starting xdm?  It should NOT be started by /etc/ttys, which
 | would start a new one everytime you log out.  Is should be started once
 | in, say /etc/rc.local and never again.

	Actually, if you use the -nodaemon flag with xdm, you can avoid
	the behaviour you describe.  Here is the /etc/ttys we use.

:0 "/usr/bin/X11/xdm -nodaemon" none on secure
