Connecting to VMS using UCX

Hi All:

I wasn't sure where to start with this problem, but one end of it is Ultrix
and the other is VMS, so I decided to start here. If anyone has a better
place for me to post this I'm open to suggestions.

Here's the situation: I manage a network of about 50 systems, the breakdown
between operating systems is about 46 Ultrix systems, 2 Sun-OS systems and
2 VMS systems. Now you might guess that the 2 VMS system aren't that important
(and that's my feeling as well), but the powers that be, namely my boss, think
otherwise.

To ease communication with the VMS systems we recently installed the UCX (VMS
/ULTRIX Connection) software on our VMS systems. This allows Unix users to
issue telnet/rlogin commands to connect to the VMS systems. This works OK,
but regardless of doing a telnet or rlogin the VMS system always gives the
standard VMS login. My boss would like have something that works more like
the traditional Unix rlogin, i.e. no user name prompt and no password prompt
if the request comes from a "trusted" host.

The manuals for the UCX software don't show any promise a solution, except
maybe in a macro of some type. Programming is not my forte' and I'd rather
not reinvent the wheel. Can anyone think of an Ultrix based solution to this
problem? Does someone already have a solution they'd be willing share?

Specifics: Ultrix 3.1 + 4.1 systems, VMS 5.4, UCX 1.3.

Many thanks to anyone who can give me a lead.

Regards,
Bob
