SHY & SELF-DESTRUCTIVE X-TERMS
After typing "xterm &" to invoke a fresh window on my display, a
process will be started, but the new window does not appear until 5 or
more minutes later. The tardy xterm session can then be selected;
however, as soon as the <RETURN> key is hit at the end of the command
line, the window implodes into itself.
We are running Ultrix 4.0 on a DECstation 3100 with 24MB RAM. The
problem occurs on the console running X R3 as well as the NCD
X terminals on R4. On some days the problem is rampant. On other
days it doesn't seem to happen.
Although this might not have a lot to do with it, the problem began
after we increased the number of X terminals on the system from 2 to 6.
The system runs fine in all other respects.
Send help!
