Our uucp slows to a crawl as the /usr/spool/uucp directory grows large.
When it is over 20kbytes the uucico program often times out.
Has this problem been observed elsewhere?

The cure is surely to reduce the number of directory entries.
One possibility would be to put the "C." and "D." files
in separate subdirectories ("C/" and D/").

Unless someone provides an alternative uucp
