RFCs 881, 882, and 883 Now Available

New RFCs are now available from the Network Information Center in the 
NETINFO directory at SRI-NIC.

These three RFCs discuss the introduction of domain style names for the 
DDN/ARPA Internet.  This is a structured naming system which will 
provide flexibility for the growth of the Internet, and will provide for
a consistent naming facility for interactions with other communication 
environments.

The implementation of domain style names will impact all host in the 
DDN/ARPA Internet.

For those interested in the discussion of this topic a mailing called 
"Namedroppers" has been created.  If you are interested in the 
day-to-day technical development of these concepts and protocols please

RFC 881:

   Title:   The Domain Names Plan and Schedule

   This memo introduces the domain style names, decscibes the conceptual
   framework for the domain names system including name servers ans name
   resolvers, and use of domain names in the DDN/ARPA Internet.

   Title:   Domain Names - Implementation Specification

   This memo discusses the implementation of domain name servers and 
   name resolvers, and the protocol procedures and message formats used 
   in their interaction.

Public access files may be copied from the NETINFO directory at SRI-NIC 
via FTP with username ANONYMOUS and password GUEST.
