That last is unjustified, I think; but the rest of your criticism makes
some sense.  My answers are that (1) I was talking about the terminal
user's interface, not the program interface, and perhaps I did not make
that clear; and (2) I use the Bourne shell, so I forgot about job control,
which is not as beautiful as the rest, to put it mildly.
