One thing Mike didn't mention is that the BRL/JHU PDP-11 UNIX
has the famous BRL UNIX System V emulation supplied as its default
environment, in addition to a 7th Edition UNIX environment and
a strange local environment eveolved from the 6th Edition.

It sure is nice to develop software on the PDP-11 then move it
to the VAX and just say "make" to get the VAX version.  Let's hear
it for a common environment.
