Need help with mail security bug

You are confusing V7 mail with Berkeley's brain-damaged and buggy
modification of it. With the exception of some aspects of the problem
of signature authentication, V7 mail has *none* of the problems you
describe. In particular, it's perfectly happy to run with a spool
directory that is not writeable to everyone.

It would be nice if Berkeley dropped its habit of referring to x.yBSD
(in particular, when x is 2) as "Unix Version 7". This borders on
criminal fraud nowadays, since Berkeley's latest products don't even
look much like Unix any more, much less V7.
