I have an 11/780 with two unibus adapters. On the first
unibus I have a dz, a dmf, a 3Com Ethernet controller, and a NSC
hyperchannel adapter. On the second unibus I have a UDA50 controller
which talks to an RA81 disk.

I used to run 4.2bsd on my RM80 disk on the massbus and use the
RA81 disk for a user file system. One day we decided to put something
else on the RM80 and rig the RA81 as my boot disk for those rare
occasions when I would be running 4.2bsd. So I configured a system
which knew about all of the devices, but which expected to boot from and
swap on the RA81, and loaded the vmunix from that system into the 'a'
partition of the RA81, along with the rest of root.

Then I tried to boot the new system, using the distributed boot
on a floppy I had built according to the instructions in the gen manual
and low and behold: ZILCH. The drive online light doesn't even come on.

The input I gave the ":" prompt was ra(8,0)vmunix and the system
hung.

	HHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Has anyone booted an ra disk from the second unibus and if so
can they give me a hint as to what I am doing wrong?
