The UUCP data path is 8 bits wide, so XON/XOFF will disrupt
operations.  The packet size is small enough to not normally
cause problems, but due to the multiple packet windowing you
may get multiple packets in one transmission.  Normally the
best way to deal with this situation is simply to disable XON/XOFF
and let UUCP provide its own flow control -- most networks provide some 
means to do this.
