-ldial

I was given some code that included a Makefile with "-ldial" as an
option to cc, (though this gets handed to ld). I get an error
back from ld:

ld:/usr/local/lib/libdial.a: cannot open

This means to me that somewhere/sometime this mechanism was used but
is now obsolete or minimally uninstalled on both the berkeley release
and the sun distribution.... A look through the source directories
leads nowhere. Anyone have any ideas where I can get the source to
generate this archive?

Is this something left over from 4.1, that I could go back to my backup
tapes and restore?
