Hmmmmmmm.

Me thinks that the head-in-the-sand approach is the "leaders of USENET's"
way of avoiding comparisons between USENET and public access computer
bulletin boards where [hc]rackers (pirates) post credit card #s, stolen
passwords and info on breaking various protection schemes.

This would also explain the very loudly and often repeated attitude :
	"Thou shalt not steal source code from AT&T"

	[No judgement here, just thinking out loud.]
