regex: sysIII/V to 4.?

I need to convert a program that uses the Berkeley
regex (regular expression) routines to run on
SysIII/V.  A quick glance at the sysIII manual
page seems to indicate that the Bell routines are not
as easy to use, and I have no desire to change
working code.  Does anyone have routines that emulate
Berkeley regex?  (I don't care if the routines are
"standalone" or if they call the sysIII/V regex routines.)
