Fortune TERMCAP (and kermit)

I took the termcap entry for the Fortune 32:16 from my home computer
and added it to my host's termcap.  Then I tried to use terminal type
"FT" using both "kermit c" and the VTE product with vt100 emulation
turned off, but got nonsense.

Has anyone had any success in using the Fortune's native terminal
capabilities (which are MUCH better than a vt100) in connecting to
a remote host?
