Unix userid conventions

Securing the average UNIX is next to possible
(unless you pull the power cable :-).

Such measures as making login names more cryptic
doesn't really increase security but just makes
it harder for the users to communicate (what's
joe login name again?) and thus decreases the
useability of the system.
