PURDUE_EE hacks to 4.3 Dump

Folks,
I've got a minor problem that hopefully someone has already
dealt with. We're running 4.3 dump with the PURDUE_EE hacks for live
file systems on our Sun-3 network. I've had to do many full restores
recently (from different level 0 dumps), and there's a consistent
flaky that keeps showing up.

Specifically, restore will stop about half-way into the tape
and ask for the next volume. Since the entire dump fit onto one reel,
this bothers me (not having uptime and other minor but useful utilities
not restored doesn't help either). There appears to be a correlation
between recent time stamps and failed restores. My suspicion is that
the files are not getting dumped because of modifications between the
two passes of dump. Fine, but why do I get asked for a second reel?

	Ideas?

Sorry for making this a general posting, but I can't remember
who I got the hacks from, and in any case they claimed to have had no
problems for 1 1/2 years at the time. We's gots problems.

Dieter
P.S. Due to the volume of comp.unix.wizards, I'd prefer email, and
I'll summarize to the net. Thanx.
