UNIX (BSD4.3) on a DEC 8700

Very soon our site will be changeing from a VAX 11/780 to
a VAX 8700.  Talking to DEC, we were told that BSD 4.3 will
not run on the new computer.  Is that true?

I have a staff meeting comeing up on tuesday, and at that time
we will be talking about what UNIX we will need, BSD or DEC.
