Shell Debugger, Cshell

   Hello.

I had requested suggestions/comments on the need for a shell
script debugger earlier in comp.unix.questions. I didn't receive much
of response (only TWO). Maybe it was because I didn't give my
e-mail address. This time I have and I still would like to hear
more on the need for a shell script debugger.

I have a question on Cshell.

The set command in csh has been giving me some problems. When I
use "set -x" or "set -v" or any other option, I get back a message
"set: syntax error". When I do "echo $?" it says,"Variable syntax".
I don't understand what this means. The set command works fine
for "set verbose" and "set echo". Is this a feature of cshell that
these flags will have to be given right at the beginning itself? Or,
am I missing something? I would like to be able to set it "on" and
"off" anytime. Do you have any suggestions for me?

The set command with the flags is supported by ksh and sh.

Please e-mail your responses to me directly.
