Trouble killing processes in SysV/AT

While not locking a terminal, the following simple shell script creates
an unkillable process (pg) if run in background :

	tail -20 <foo> | pg

I'm sure there are plenty of other examples. This just happens to be one
I found on uport and a 3b2.
