ln -s /sysroot/utils/anunews /news_root
gives the name /news_root/src/news_src/news_add.obj 

Doesn't help much if your flavor of Unix has no symlinks though.

Does VMS store this alias in the file system?  Does it survive
reboots?  Never mind, I don't really want to know :-)
