Exabyte drive problem

A message was posted to this group a while ago from Purdue University
mentioning a problem with the latest version of the Exabyte PROMs that
could result in the physical folding of the tape during a backspace
operation.  Was this problem ever fixed, and if so, what are the
versions of the new PROMs?
