Hard links to directories: why not?

>mkdir dir1/a_directory
>ln dir1/a_directroy dir2/directory_link
>cd dir2/directory_link
>cd ..
>pwd

Why, dir1 and dir2 of course! Considering BOTH are parent directories,
they should be allowed to have the same kid - right? Any ideas?
Wouldn't this be a NEAT addition to UNIX?
