SCO XENIX Open Files limit

When configuring the SCO XENIX 386 2.3.2 kernel parameters, particularly
the NINODE, NFILE, and NFLOCKS parameters, what is the significance
of the recommended maxima ?
The question comes up because I have a customer that keeps running into
the open files limit. He is running an application that must access a large
number of files for each user. We have expanded these parameters way beyond
their suggested maxima.
The system seems to be quite capable of handling the I/O and processor load
associated with the large number of users - we just keep running into the
file limit.
Does the 386GT version of the O/S have higher suggested maximum values ?
SCO UNIX ?
