packdisk. Good/Bad?

I got a copy of packdisk from a comp.misc archive.  Before I unleash it on my
hard disk I though I'd find out if anyone has any comments about it working on
my Xenix286 system (2.3.1).  Anyone care to comment?  Has anyone got anything
better?

I've done the trick of deleting files after archiveing, doing an fsck -s and
restoring the files.  Since about all this machine does is handle news the
disk gets gragmented very rapidly.  Fsanalyze currently shows 100%
fragmentation.
