mfalloc panics

I have done some work at a site that has a Compaq 386-20 - probably
about 3-4 years old.

They are running SCO Xenix 2.3.2, and a time-share software package
written in DBL. (?)

About a year ago the system started giving system errors of

Panic mfalloc errors, and halting. Recently it has become more
often, and interspersed with dfalloc errors.

Manual describes mfalloc as "page not free at exit" and dfalloc as
"frame not free at exit".

It also says these may be caused by hardware or software.

The first time this occured was after a software upgrade. It made
me suspect the software. However the software firm says they have
many systems installed and have not seen this error.

I called many people and no-one I talked with has ever seen this
error.

So - has anyone seen this error, and if so, any idea what may have
caused it. I am beginning to suspect it may be hardware related,
but what part of the hardware.

Any hints - any at all - would be appreciated.
