select() on sxt devices (WAS Re: Delays between parent and child)

I just sent some mail to the author of the referenced article, mentioning
select() as an option to consider, and realised that at least as of 2.3.3, 
select() does not work on sxt devices.  Does anyone know if its been fixed,
or if a fix is in the works ?

Yeah, I know, no one uses sxt's so it's no point fixing it ....
