Need 16-bit compress for SCO Xenix

I'm looking for a 16-bit version of "compress" for a PC/AT running
SCO Xenix.  I have a fairly generic-looking source, which even sports
a few #ifdefs for 16-bit keys under Xenix, but I get an assortment of
ugliness when I try to run it.

Any hints, patches, sources, etc... would be greatly appreciated.
