I am using an Irwin 125 AT 20 meg tape drive in a 286 8mhz machine. I
have recently upgraded to SCO 2.2.3, mainly for the mini-cartridge
support.

Even with freshly bulk erased tapes, known good, I am unable to format the
tapes and tar to them. I was advised by Irwin that by using the
command line switch 'format -e /dev/rctmini', the drive would do the
proper servo write and format, but the message I get is that this drive
cannot erase tapes.

This drive is known working, and does work very reliably from dos.

I would appreciate any help or advice offered. Please email all responses
to conserve net bandwidth, and thanks for any help.
