"backup" woes

On SCO Xenix System V/286 v2.2.1 I used "backup" to backup my root filesystem
with the command

% backup 0ufk /dev/rfd096ds15 1200 /dev/rroot

And when the backup completed, I did a

% restor fkt /dev/rfd096ds15 1200

and was told it could not find the directory header, perhaps ten times.
That was after it properly reported the date of the backup and the epoch.

So, did I do something wrong?

I ended up backing up with afio, I understand it better anyway.

Last thought: I have 80 megs of data, and just floppies. What's the most
efficient way to back up?

Thanks for any and all help
