I had the same problem when I installed the crypt utilities for
our 2.2* system.  I picked vi off the original disk and kept the
crypt version around here somewhere under a different name (I
never use it anyway).

I don't recall having that problem when I installed 2.3.1, but
the same fix might work for you.  vi is linked to 40-11 different
names, but if you just copy off one of the files onto vi it
should do the trick.
