Xenix 386 HELP!

Hi!  I'm trying to install Xenix 2.3.1 386 on a Mica 386 EGA Portable.
If you scan Computer Shopper you'll see their adds.

The 386 MB is a 20Mhz board with AMI BIOS.  I have 4MB of DRAM in SIMM
style packages (80ns). 

I actually have Xenix loaded but it does not seem to operate.  I always
get the same error:

kernel: PANIC: General protection

and the system stops and asks for re-boot.  This error happens at
different spots but recently while cleaning the file system.  Basically
I can't get in!

The AMI BIOS has a VERY extensive configuration setup that allows you
to control R/W and timing considerations.

I wonder if anyone else has expirenced this type of problem with AMI
BIOS and has a configuration that works?

I know that Xenix once booted does not use BIOS but this stuff appears
to do some setup of the Chips and Technologies 386 Chipset as far as
what memory is allowed for R/W etc.

My system is also configured with a standard 256K EGA, 150MB ESDI
western digital controller.  I have swapped controllers and I know
it not to be the problem!

I believe that if I could hit the right combiniation of configuration
options on the AMI BIOS setup that things would fly but I don't know
enough to hit it just right.

I have submitted a request for help from SCO but wonder if there might
be any other words of wisdom.
