adding ptys to Xenix 2.3.2

We recently upgraded to Xenix 2.3.2mc, and are now using /dev/ptyp*
pseudo-terminals for GNU Emacs processes and for mscreen, which
exhausts the default configuration of eight quickly.  

The documentation for "mscreen" says that the kernel can be relinked
with additional pseudo terminals.  Does anyone know how to do it, and
what limits, if any, exist on how many pseudo-terminals can be added?
