Xenix and Archive Tape Drives (was: Xenix vs. Unix?)

My Everex 386/20 with Archive 150 MB and ? SCSI adapter also takes 
two tries, with absolute consistency.
XENIX/386 2.2, 2.2.2, 2.3.?
