TB & Xenix Getty

I'm using SCO Xenix/286 2.2.1 with SCO's Telebit version of uucico. I
also have a T18PC, the internal Telebit for an IBM AT.

I'm having a problem, that I can't seem to tell if it's with getty or
the Telebit.

Here are the symptoms:

- getty thinks the line is in use, so ungetty refuses to let uucico
  place an outbound call

- The Telebit doesn't the line, so I'm assuming DTR is low.
(I knew there was some reason I never bought an internal modem before,
those idiot lights sure help debugging) :^)

- If I disable the line, getty refuses to terminate.

- If I attempt to kill -9 the getty process on that line, nothing happens.
The process appears to be un-killable (is there such a word?)

The only solution seems to be to reboot the cpu, since I haven't found a
way to reset the T18PC by other means yet.

Other than getty, everything seems to be working fine. I average between
800-1300 cps depending on the system that I'm talking with.

Any ideas, suggestions, or comments to assist a frustrated person? I will
admit that my wife having a baby the week the Telebit arrived didn't help
the situation much either. :^)
