Shared memory bug in SCO Xenix 2.3.2

There seems to be a bug in how SCO Xenix 2.3.2 handles shared memory. 
Occasionally, when one accesses the last byte of a block of shared memory,
the program dumps core. This only happens when the system load is relatively
heavy so I suspect it has something to do with how shared memory is swapped.
Making our shared memory blocks one byte bigger than needed seems to
be a reasonable workaround.
