Unix on small machines (11/34)

The question:
	I have an 11/34 with 2 RL01 s on it and a tape .What would be
	a good unix to run on it and where would one obtain it?

A answer:

    You'll find that 2xRL01 is not enough disk storage to really run
UNIX*, We initally had 2xRL02 and ran fairly well for about 4 months,
then space became a *REAL* problem; You should consider getting another
drive ( preferably a RL02) so as to allow a minimal amount of online
storage, but I suspect that you'll really want a large disk almost
immediately.

    The system that you'll need is 2.8BSD (from UC Berkley) or (only
binary license available) V7M11 (from DEC ), I'm not sure if V7M11 will
support the kernal overlays necessary for a useable UNIX on a non
seperate I/D machine (any comment on this Armando ? ). The UCLA math
dept ran a hacked up V7 on 11/23's with some success ( they had 1x
Kennedy 5300) so it can be done. If you have a copy of 2.8BSD (the
'LAST' release from Berkley) you can configure it for small machines.

    The big problem is that a full distribution of UNIX just about fills
2 RL02s (or near enough that you'll have real problems extracting the
second volume (rp3) from the tape).
